First off, let me wish all of you a belated Happy New Year. 2012 is starting out with more good news— thanks in large part to 2011. We just tallied our orders and deliveries from last year and there’s reason to be positive about the year ahead.

We booked 805 net orders in 2011 and delivered 477 airplanes. Compared to last year, orders are up by 275 airplanes and deliveries are up by 15. All of that is due to record-breaking orders, including the best year ever for 777 orders. We fell a bit short of our delivery guidance on 787s, but our number one goal this year is to make sure Dreamliner production is stable and reliable as we get those airplanes into the hands of our customers.

The end of year totals also revealed even more amazing news about the 737 MAX. We’ve now topped 1000 orders and commitments from 15 customers. I’ve said 2012 will be the “Year of the MAX” and these latest numbers show we’re already heading in that direction.

I think the success of the Boeing 747-8 depends on nothing but mathematics... Can 300 Airbus A380s replace 1,418 Boeing 747s sold during the decades - this is obviously impossible... Boeing 747s sold in the 1980's are just getting 30 years old...

We all know jokes about the "one size fits all principle" - I think the Boeing 747-8 still makes a sense in the large airplane market...

I am very pleased to see the great progress Boeing has made over the years. I am very interested in working for Boeing in the near future. I am so very pleased again for all the success Boeing has seen over the last year. I remember, while taking flight training (ground school) at Boeing Field, and getting to see, from the control tower, the very first 777 came in for a landing which I will never forget as it was uneventful and looked like a huge bird with all the gracefulness of an eagle.
Continued success to the best company in Washington State and throughout the country.

What a year in pictures. Every month Boeing has demonstrated an indomitable procession forward in its march to excellence. These pictures represent the sacrifice and hard work of the Boeing team. No wonder it makes everyone smile, even the passengers on the 787 photographs are giddy over the experience. Some days at the work place are tough on everybody, but this year, the pride shows by smoothing the long hours spent in making it right. 2012 is now set to hit it over the fence in every phase of the Boeing product.

2011 has been a great year for Boeing with the launch and 800 plus orders of the 737MAX and the introduction into service of the 787 and the 747-8 cargo plane. There is no reason otherwise not to expect a great 2012 in orders, production and delivery of new aircraft.

What an amazing year for Boeing! And from what I can see of the delivery schedule, two Dreamliners will be handed over this week, which is exciting. Great to see things shifting from testing and certification to production and delivery. Can't wait to see the 787-900 hit the skies in a year or two, and hopefully version 1000 sometime after that, as it is needed, and would compete well against the A350-1000.

Hi Randy,
Just noticed the good news that the Operating Empty Weight for the 747-8F/I has been lowered below original specs. Also Max TO weight has increased by 12,000 lb to 987,000 lb to give more payload/range. Given that the takeoff weight has increased from the 960,000 lb of the shorter version of the 748, will the GEnx-2b engines be getting a thrust bump? After all, the 66,500 lb thrust rating was for the 960k version, not 987k.
