When you think about it, 1995 wasn’t all that long ago. But since that time, we’ve seen 1,000 777s come out of the Everett factory. Today, we took time to celebrate that incredible milestone with thousands of the men and women who built those beautiful airplanes. It was also a time to thank Emirates— who will take delivery of airplane number 1,000 later this month— as well as all of our customers who continue to make the 777 wildly popular. Here’s a photo gallery from today’s big party— along with one blast from the past. Also, check out some videos paying tribute to this occasion.

Congratulations to Emirates for grabbing Boeing's 1,000th 777 ever built as well as their launch of Seattle-Dubai service (that uses the 777) that started a day before this celebration!


By far the most impressive result of the 777 program so far is achieving all the economies, new markets and pushing the envelope while at the same time having an impeccable safety record. One that extends well past the design of the plane to its interaction with people using it.

Congratulations!! This is truly an impressive milestone, and with a potential 777X, we could very well see the 777 family surpass the 2,000th delivery in the years ahead. Interesting to note that nearly two decades ago, on September 10th, 1993, the 1,000th 747 (a 747-400 for Singapore Airlines) rolled out!

Keep up the excellent work!! Maybe we'll see the 747 also achieve 2,000 deliveries?

1000 777 deliveries and going strong. I think the biggest surprise of the 777 project was the 777-300ER, who would have thought that over 600 units would have been sold especially in the time that it has been available? I think the the 777 will in a short time be the most successful widebody ever sold and the 777-8X and 777-9X will keep the 777 line open for many more years to come.

Congratulations! It's been an incredible aircraft program, particularly the GE90-115B/-110 powered longer range 777's and Freighter. The 777-300ER is the № 1 derivative aircraft in the sky today, the Alpha & Omega of Better, Faster, Cheaper as per Ted Piepenbrock's Theory of The Evolution of Business Systems.

I remember when the idea of over-water on two engines was scary, and how Dick Taylor and crew worked to convince everyone it could be done. This was truly a
revolutionary idea, and took several years to do. I was one of the skeptics, but
in the end a package of improvements was identified for engines and airframe,
and the result was not only over-water capability but a more reliable vehicle
and reduced costs, delays, and cancellations.

Now, of course, big twins are everywhere, and the 777's success had its roots
in the work of Dick Taylor's group. This is an airplane which will be around
for a very long time.
